Last night was the IGDA Demo Night 2016 and it was amazing!
Once a year, Montreal’s International Game Developer’s Association hosts a crazy event where studios show off a 5 mins live demos of their upcoming games. It’s speed dating meets live game showcase! The event was held at the “Société des Arts Technologiques” (SAT) in downtown Montreal and more than 600 people showed up.
We were #11 to present out of 18 games presented. It was nerve racking, but everything went really well!
We worked hard on Alien Road Rage the last few days, we stressed out a lot, and practiced to get our presentation under the required 5 mins. You literally get cut off if you go over the 5 mins limit, and the next game goes live. All the hard work payed off! We got some great reactions from the crowd during gameplay when crashing into cows and performing stunts.
Michel and Noah were playing the game and I was up front talking. The rest of the crew and a few fans were cheering for us in the front seats.
The other games presented were also amazing, our favorites were:
- Moon Hunters (PC/Mac/PS4) – Kitfox Games – http://www.moonhuntersgame.com
- Children of Zodiarcs (PC/consoles) – Cardboard Utopia – http://www.cardboard-utopia.com/
- Fulcrum (PC/Mac/others) – Phosfiend Systems – http://phosfiend.com/presskit/sheet.php?p=Fulcrum
- Ultimate Chicken Horse (PC/Consoles) – Clever Endeavour Games – http://www.cleverendeavourgames.com/ultimate-chicken-horse
Kudos to the SAT technical team for their support and to the master of ceremony Jason Della Rocca (Execution Labs) for organizing this amazing event.
A special thanks to our friends and families who showed up to cheer us on. It means a lot to us!
